A Hole in One at the 12th
Now this was passed onto me by Janet, who was pouring celebration drinks for another hole in one recorded by a visitor from Renwick which, according to Google, is in Cumbria.
Colin Sinclair, playing with an outing from the Traders Pub team, decided to play a seven iron at the 12th to hit a magnificent shot straight down the middle of the hole.
Congratulations to Colin and best wishes to everyone from Renwick - it is good to have you at the Club.
Many thanks to Lennox
As your new scribe, I would like to record my thanks to Lennox for his many years of excellent contributions he gave to the website. Now I know it is going to be a difficult act to follow, and being a golfer who thinks a round of golf is for every other year, I am presently on a vertical learning curve and will try to fill those shoes to the perfect fit.
Anyway, as they say, onwards and upwards.
Looking forward to giving you, not only the golf scores but also news from in and around the Club.

East of Scotland Championship
Well, what a weekend that was. Perfect weather, a great course and play, well to me, was exceptional.
Many thanks to the Club and our Captain, Stuart Clunie, Head Greenkeeper, Willie Swan, for having the Course in such magnificent condition and to the Scottish Golf Union for organising the event under the auspices of David Moir.
Thanks also, to Janice and Ian, the Club Stewards and their staff, the many Sponsors, the very many helpers in the background and not forgetting Alistair MacDonald, the Secretary and sorry if we have added a few more frowns on the brow.
So sorry if I have missed anyone, and I am sure that I might have done, but many thanks to you also.
What a field of competitive golfers and to you I say thank you for making it another East of Scotland Championship that everyone so much enjoyed.
Look forward to 2011.
East of Scotland Championship
What a weekend it was with brilliant weather, a great course and a competition to match.
A field of international excellence, scores to match with Brian Soutar of Leven Golfing Society on Saturday recording a 64,that is some golf, and our own James White recording a 65 that set up the weekend.
As the weekend continued, Peter Latimer of St Andrews New won the competition won with a 14 under score of 270 which, on Sunday, he played two rounds of 66.
Congratulations to Peter and well done runner up Scott Chrichton from Aberdour with a seven under 277 followed by Graeme Robertson, Glenbervie on 278.
Lundin Golf Club were well represented by Cameron Mitchell on 280 and James White on 282.
Full results can be found on www.eastofscotland.co.uk/scores.
Back to the practice course for me.
Hold the front page !
With the retirement of our current News "scribe" this section of the site is on hold. The club committee have been pondering & proliferating and hope to be able to announce a replacement by 16th June. Big shoes to fill !
5 March 2010 Hole in One
I am saving the best till last before signing off as 'scribe'. The 'wee man' applied The Finishing Touch to his playing of the 5th hole today. Yes, David Nicoll, 9 iron in hand, struck the ball handsomely and, without a semblance of deviation, it landed on the green some five feet from the hole and unerringly tickled the flagstick before dropping into the cup. Yes, I was there and saw it for myself along with Harry Dalgleish and Doug Wares. Needless to say whisky was dispensed in the clubhouse and, with amazing foresight, the boys went on to a splendid lunch and wine-tasting chez Masterchef Faulds. The pub beckoned in the evening and some of us got home at half past! Now there's how to celebrate a hole-in-one. Superb.
6 March 2010 Professionals Shop
It was only standing at the 18th tee that I saw it. Yes, the new fibre-glass flagpole, the club flag fluttering in the breeze. My playing partners too had missed it en route to checking in at the shop ... the new shop to which professional Ron had moved just days before. Members have already been widespread in their praise of our new prestigious facility, completed in time, within budget. No doubt the car park will see a regular flow of "white vans" over the coming two or three weeks as Ron enthusiastically stocks up for the coming season. He is delighted. His staff are delighted. We are all delighted. There are still some finishing touches to be applied to the exterior. But it is warm, welcoming and our shop is now blessed with the facilities that a club of Lundin's standing should certainly have. This is yet another piece in the jigsaw of bringing Lundin to the forefront of golf in Fife ... and well beyond. Congratulations to all involved.
6 March 2010 Monthly Medal - Stableford
While conditions were not balmy, they were certainly pleasant enough for light pullovers; what a welcome relief from seemingly months of frosts and snow. And it proved a good day for scoring too with a comfortable CSS of 71. Leading the way with 41 points in the first division was Jeremy Lloyd who finished one better than both John Paisley and Derek Murdoch. In Division 2 it gives me particular pleasure as I head towards 'retirement' to confirm a best-ever score (91) from whatever tee far less the whites for Doug Wares. That week on the piste in Austria with Mandy must have worked wonders! Doug (40 points) won on the inward half from Andy George whose early form surely bodes well for further good scoring (and handicap reduction ... please!!) as the season progresses. Both finished 4 points ahead of Neil Mowat who is proving himself a consistent performer thus far.
20 February 2010 Winter Eclectic
With bad weather cancelling further play the results of this winter's eclectic were: Scratch - Steve Meiklejohn 56, Grant McNab and James White 57. Handicap - Ken Proctor (12) 54.00, Steve M (0.75) 55.25, Michael Rooney (3.75) 56.25.
13 February 2010 Monthly Medal
On a day of good scoring, though unfortuantely the entry was small, CSS was 71. Leading the Category A players were Fraser Downie (9) 39 points, Craig Maiden (2) 38, James White (+4) and Craig Hay (6) both 36. Category B saw Bert Allan (17) pip regular playing pal Stewart MacLeod (27) on the inward half while a point behind on 38 points was Neil Mowat (15)
