Morrison Trophy - Saturday 24 July Almost perfect weather conditions awaited the 28 competitors playing for the Morrison Trophy over 2 rounds.

The competition was tight and nett scores, for most, were better in the first round than in the second.

The eventual winner was Ian Ritchie with a combined nett score of 136 featuring a nett 64 first round and 72 second round.

Stewart Clunie, Club Captain, was lying second after the first round with a score of 66 but could not maintain his form in the second round with a 75 for a total of 141, 5 strokes behind placing Stewart fourth equal.

Murdo MacLeod with scores of 69 and 69 and Richard Brown 68 and 70 giving each a total of 138 were the eventual runners up just 2 strokes behind the winner.

1966 All Over Again No, not that event!!

Some 44 years after Bill Moyes won both the Lundin Golf Club Championship and the Baird Cup at Leven Thistle in 1966, this feat has been repeated by the young Cameron Mitchell.

Bill, now a youthful 86 years of age, is a well know face, or "weil kent" in Scottish vernacular, in Scottsh Golf circles. He is a multiple winner of both Championships and still plays regularly at Lundin.

Cameron, in winning the 2010 Club Championship at the tender age of 16 years and 10 months is the youngest winner since Sandy Paterson back in 1969.

Congratulations to Cameron and, no doubt, we will be
reporting his successes in the future.

I do believe the Club is organising a photo shoot of the 1966 double winner, Bill and the 2010, double winner Cameron, so we look forward to viewing the photographs soon.

R & A 2010 Junior Open Championship The Club was proud and delighted to have hosted the R & A 2010 Junior Open Championship and despite the, at times, difficult weather conditions it turned out to be a Championship that did the Club great credit.

It was a great effort by everyone involved in running the Championship and the Club conveys many thanks and good wishes to each and everyone of them.

Again, Willie Swan, did the Club proud with the Course in magnificent condition and a worthy course for such a prestigious Championship. Also, Ian and Jan Cunningham, our Stewards, for coping with the high numbers who had to be "wined and dined", a tremendous effort.

I am also sure, all those that participated in the Championship enjoyed the experience of playing at "Lundie" and getting a feel for a Links Course just as the Scottish weather decides to change for the worse.

Finally, our thanks also go to the Royal and Ancient for entrusting the Championship to Lundin Golf Club and hopefully we can look forward to another Championship soon.

Club Captain.

Japan's Kenta Konishi Wins Junior Open Championship Despite horrendous weather conditions, continuous rain and a cold easterly wind, Kenta Konishi, a 16 year old from Japan, has won the 2010 Junior Open Championship with a final round of 72 for a 211 total score for the three day tournament.

Four strokes further back and joint runners up were Guillermo Pereria, Chile and Hyo-Joo Kin of the Repulic of Korea with final rounds of 73 giving a total score of 215.

Congratulations to the winner and runner ups and they were closely followed by the first British player in 4th place which was Emily Taylor, England with a total score of 218.

A Hole in One at the 12th Now this was passed onto me by Janet, who was pouring celebration drinks for another hole in one recorded by a visitor from Renwick which, according to Google, is in Cumbria.

Colin Sinclair, playing with an outing from the Traders Pub team, decided to play a seven iron at the 12th to hit a magnificent shot straight down the middle of the hole.

Congratulations to Colin and best wishes to everyone from Renwick - it is good to have you at the Club.

Many thanks to Lennox As your new scribe, I would like to record my thanks to Lennox for his many years of excellent contributions he gave to the website. Now I know it is going to be a difficult act to follow, and being a golfer who thinks a round of golf is for every other year, I am presently on a vertical learning curve and will try to fill those shoes to the perfect fit.

Anyway, as they say, onwards and upwards.

Looking forward to giving you, not only the golf scores but also news from in and around the Club.

East of Scotland Championship Well, what a weekend that was. Perfect weather, a great course and play, well to me, was exceptional.

Many thanks to the Club and our Captain, Stuart Clunie, Head Greenkeeper, Willie Swan, for having the Course in such magnificent condition and to the Scottish Golf Union for organising the event under the auspices of David Moir.

Thanks also, to Janice and Ian, the Club Stewards and their staff, the many Sponsors, the very many helpers in the background and not forgetting Alistair MacDonald, the Secretary and sorry if we have added a few more frowns on the brow.

So sorry if I have missed anyone, and I am sure that I might have done, but many thanks to you also.

What a field of competitive golfers and to you I say thank you for making it another East of Scotland Championship that everyone so much enjoyed.

Look forward to 2011.
