Hole 1 - High
Pro's Tip
The opening drive is from an elevated tee to a generous fairway.
Beware of hitting your second shot left as a boundary beckons.
The slightly elevated green slopes downhill from the front to back.
Hole 2 - Quarry
Pro's Tip
Be sure to avoid the burn which runs across the fairway 260 yards from the back tee.
Hit your second shot to the fat of the green as a ditch awaits any shot missed to the right.
Hole 3 - Bents
Pro's Tip
A nice, short Par 4. Drive is from the high ground to a well bunkered fairway.
Pitch to a green closely guarded by more bunkers.
Hole 4 - Mile Dyke
Pro's Tip
The toughest hole on the course. A good, straight drive is required as the sea boundary gathers any tee-shot hit slightly to the left.
The plateau green is guarded by a wide gully with a burn at the bottom.
If in doubt at all, play short and pitch over.
Hole 5 - Silverburn
Pro's Tip
A good short hole where choice of club is important as a burn has to be negotiated and the green is surrounded by bunkers.
Hole 6 - Spectacles
Pro's Tip
Drive over spectacle bunkers to the left side of the fairway as the boundary is close down the right.
An accurate second is needed to a green which falls away on all sides.
Hole 7 - Burn
Pro's Tip
A burn 240 yards from the tee runs across this fairway in front of the green.
Play short and pitch over.
Hole 8 - Aithernie
Pro's Tip
An out of bounds runs down the right side with a nest of bunkers at driving distance on the left.
Play your second over a diagonal burn to a green falling slightly from left to right.
Hole 9 - Long
Pro's Tip
Longest hole on the course at 555 yards. Beware of the boundary on the right side for 300+ yards.
The green is well guarded by sand traps left and right. Putting surface falls from right to left.
Hole 10 - Thorn Tree
Pro's Tip
Drive over gorse to the left side of the fairway bunker. Anything hit too far left leaves a blind second shot.
Be wary of the large island bunker at the front right of the green.
Hole 11 - Racecourse
Pro's Tip
Long testing Par 4 aptly named 'The Racecourse'.
Thick rough runs along the left side of a relatively narrow fairway with bunkers and gorse on the right.
Just keep it straight!
Hole 12 - Sunnybraes
Pro's Tip
Road boundary to the left side with the green well protected by bunkers.
Ground falls away sharply on the right.
Be up on this hole.
Hole 13 - Neil Shaw
Pro's Tip
Good straight drive needed here as boundary and trees run along the right side with a steep bank falling away on the left.
More trees at the front left and right of the green make this a demanding hole.
Hole 14 - Perfection
Pro's Tip
Don't let the panoramic view spoil your concentration.
Well struck shot required from this high tee to carry over gorse,
rough and bunkers to a green 170 yards away, from the yellow tees.
Hole 15 - Heather
Pro's Tip
Favour the left centre of the fairway as this gives the ideal line to the green.
Beware of the gorse and a boundary on the left.
Blind second shot over "spectacle" bunkers.
Don't be left as the out of bounds runs the full length of the hole.
Hole 16 - Trows
Pro's Tip
At this hole a burn runs diagonally across the fairway. To carry this hazard the shortest route is 185 yards played down the left side.
A second shot landed short of the green tends to break right.
Hole 17 - Station
Pro's Tip
Blind tee shot on this dog leg, penultimate hole.
Drive slightly right of the mound to the right side of the fairway as the boundary works in from the left.
Be careful of three hidden bunkers behind this green.
Hole 18 - Home
Pro's Tip
Good drive will require a solidly hit second to a long narrow green with a road boundary hugging the left side and bunkers on the right.
A wonderful finishing hole.
